Here is my naked eyebrow. As you can see, its scarce, thin, un-tweezed and un-waxed. Years of getting them waxed have thinned them out so much that I don't even bother to get them done anymore. :( However, I do use a brow razor to clean up the staggering hairs around my natural arch. (Here, I didn't clean them too much because I want them to grow a lil more.) The benefit of having thin brows is the ability to paint them on in any shape you'd like lol. That doesn't mean you should chop all of yours off though!!!!! lol
Putting on my foundation first helps tame and conceal those tiny, wild, straggling hairs. Then, I take a dark brown pencil and slightly shade/deepen my arch. *PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!! NEVER USE A BLACK PENCIL. I DON'T KNOW ANYONE WITH BLACK HAIR ON THEIR HEAD, LET ALONE BLACK BROWS. WHY WOULD YOU CRAYON IN BLACK?? lol Really...unless you for certain have black haired brows or your brows are so dark brown that their isn't a pencil on the market dark enough to use (highly unlikely), stay away from the black. It is not attractive and looks extremely harsh and draggish (& not good drag) on the face.
Next, I smudged and brushed in the pencil line with the brush that comes on the end of a NYX brow pencil (above). Any brow brush will work though.
I have 2 eyeliner brushes. One for concealer and one for brow powder.
I also use a pencil brush for shading
With one of the liner brushes, I use Elf's brow kit &/or NYC's brow kit (Both approx. $3) to further define the arch of the brow. I also use the pencil brush to shade/darken. The contents on the right of the kits are the actual brow powders. The left sides are brow wax, which can be used to tame hairs, but foundation does that trick for me. I prefer NYC's kit because it's a lil darker, but as you can see I'm running low lol. Using the lighter brow shade in the inner/thicker part of the brows and fading out with the darker one towards the outter/thinner part creates a flyy look as well.
To create a more defined outline of the arch, I use a concealer that's 1-2 shades lighter than my complexion. However, if you don't prefer a highlighted look, choose a concealer to match your natural tone. Here is my go to, NYX's cream concealer in Glow. Taking the other eyeliner brush and dipping it in the concealer, I trace a line under and above the brow- creating an outline for futher shading and darkening.. The concealer also allows you to smudge away mistakes and create a narrower shape if preferred ..like so....
Notice the brow gets gradually darker with each step. Never pack on color at one time. With any makeup, if you need more, it's easy to add. However if you need less/have on too much on, its harder to subtract/take away.
Once I have created the desired shape, I fade and blend the concealer under the brow downward, toward my eyelid with my finger.
All-the-while, I am still shading in to my liking- being careful not to go too dark.
With a q-tip, I then wipe a away the concealer above the brow by swiping along the brow. Careful...don't wipe off your brow lol.
And there you have it! Gorg brows! Now do note that there are extra steps one must take when using a lighter concealer in order to make it look more natural to the forehead area. But I'm gonna save that for another time. I adore the lighter outline/highlighting of a good brow. Nevertheless, if you do not prefer it, stick with concealer that matches your tone. HAPPY BROW PAINTING!! :)
